Geopolitics Club - Geopo Dinner

For this new meeting, the Geopolitics Club invites you to its 1st "Geopo Dinner", a new format offered on a regular basis, to allow free and rich discussion between participants. It is also intended to be a convivial occasion, with discussions taking place over a cocktail reception.

In the presence of Colonel Bastian DUFILHOL, from Saint-Cyrien, a graduate of the École de Guerre, an engineer with a degree from ESSEC and a doctorate in political science, in charge of coordinating the "Simplification of the French Army" project since 1 July 2021, come and discuss a range of subjects: the war in Ukraine, domestic crises and cyber & AI threats.

Bastian DUFILHOL
Deputy Head of Simplification Mission

A Saint-Cyrien from the Colonel Cazeilles class (1995-98) and a cavalry officer, Colonel DUFILHOL first served as a lieutenant in the 1st Foreign Cavalry Regiment in Orange. After serving as an instructor at the École Spéciale Militaire, he joined the 13th foreign legion half-brigade as captain, commanding the reconnaissance squadron, a unit stationed in the Republic of Djibouti.

He was then assigned to the Land Forces Command in Lille, where he served in the programming office, then in the Land Forces Operations Center as head of the operational watch section. He then entered the higher military education program in Paris. On completion of his studies, he was appointed head of the operations and training office of the 501st tank regiment based at Mourmelon. He joined Coëtquidan in the summer of 2013, where he spent three years commanding the Saint-Cyr "Captain Hervouët" romotion. He commanded the 501st tank regiment from 2016 to 2018. From summer 2018, he was in charge of military operations for the Paris defense and security zone. In 2020, within the framework of higher military education, he was seconded to the Institut des Hautes Études of the Ministry of the Interior. Since July 1, 2021, he has been in charge of coordinating the "Simplification de l'armée de Terre" project.

Colonel DUFILHOL has served on overseas missions in Côte d'Ivoire, Djibouti, Qatar Djibouti, Qatar, Kosovo, Afghanistan and Lebanon, as well as in operations SENTINELLE and RESILIENCE in Île-de-France, where he was Chief of Staff.

Saint-Cyrien, a graduate of the École de Guerre, he is an engineer, a graduate of ESSEC and holds a doctorate in political science. He is an auditor for the French Ministry of the Interior's Cycle des Hautes Etudes and the Session Nationale Sécurité & Justice.

Aged 49, he is married with three children, aged 16 to 23.
